Extra Firm reviewed in Bay Area Reporter

Extra FirmI’m very excited (and incredibly proud!) to share with you that the new TitanMen film Extra Firm received a wonderfully positive review in the Bay Area Reporter today! I’m especially thrilled with what columnist John F. Karr (in his column Karrnal Knowledge) wrote about my hubby Dirk Caber:

Extra Firm does have one truly stand-out scene, with Dirk Caber (husky dude with husky cock) and Jesse Jackman (towering wall of furry muscle). Other performers should watch and emulate them. Sure, they’re lovers in real life, but their attitude of playful raunch and their attention to pleasuring their partner are how porn stars should be striving to act.

Rarely a celebration of gay sex, most porn seems almost a refutation of it. But Caber and Jackman deliver — their lasciviousness is alert. And don’t say I’m just a Pollyanna for a bit of romance. Caber presents the same qualities when inflicting some hearty BDSM on his partners in a couple of [Titan lead director Paul] Wilde’s Rough movies. It’s all in the intention. Directors should strive to elicit this sort of informed performance from their players. How much deeper the indecencies could go!

You can read the full review here, and watch Extra Firm in its entirety here.

And Mr. Karr, if you happen to be reading this…. thank you. 😀

Thanks! We’re really both ecstatic about the review. And no, we haven’t gotten married… we both use the terms husband, hubby, partner, and boyfriend kind of interchangeably. Before gay marriage was legal in my home state, people used to assume that when a gay couple referred to themselves as “husbands” it meant they were actually partners. Now I guess we should be more discerning, huh? 😉

When I recently started seeing you refer to Dirk as your “husband”–and I don’t ever remember your calling him that before–I presumed you had gotten married and I had just missed the news. Since there now is a distinction between being married and just being partners–something the gay community has been pushing for for a good while, of course–I’d suggest it’s a good idea to be specific here.

We’ve been calling ourselves variants of “husband” or “hubby” for about 9 months now, I’d say. We don’t use the term all that often, but it sure feels like we’re married sometimes, y’know? 😉

I know. When you are that close everything seems to take on different meanings. To you married has less meaning but husband, lover, partner, hubby or “my other half” means a lot more. As both of you go forward into your relationship these meanings will change again.

As always the best of luck in your endeavors.

You have always said that this is the reaction you wanted. Now a reporter can see it…fun, romance, lust and hot sex. Kudos to both of you…Jesse and Dirk. If I can’t be in the actual video with you guys then watching “Extra Firm” is my best alternative!

So many hot TitanMen, so little time. lol.

So I know this is really a year later but hey, I became a fan only last April and that’s thanks to my bro that introduced me to TitanMen. But it was your articles from The Huffington Post that made me a big fan. I would think that female fans and male fans don’t look for the same things when watching gay porn. I have been reading M/M romance for a few years now, most of the authors I have read are females, but I do read from male authors also. The writing is quite different but I totally love it. After realizing that I enjoyed reading M/M I said to myself why not try watching it. At first I was a bit intimidated because my perception was that it would be raw, mechanical and totally gross (yeah I know), that from watching amateur sites. So (don’t laugh) I decided to give it another try and started with baby steps, just by watching the previews, that gave me a sense of what those movies were all about. Then I understood that there are movies for every taste. I was able to watch a bit of this and a bit of that, but without fully getting into it. Since April my interest in you and Dirk have been mostly for intellectual and musical talents and personality and of course my growing curiosity for the gay porn industry. I have now watched a few movies, mostly yours and Dirk’s, I know I’m biased. However, all the videos posted on Mancast.com I did watch just because they are fun and insightful. Now remembering that you mentioned that Extra Firm was your personal favorite, I decided to watch your scene. That was the most beautiful, erotic, sexy show of love on camera in a porn context that I’ve seen so far. I admit that I have watched your home movies (BTW, the chair and IML morning blow job are MY personal favorites) which for me very beautiful and sexy but Extra Firm was a totally new experience to watch. Maybe it’s the girly side of me that found it that way. The playfulness between you both, the smiles, the looks of pure pleasure are totally real and genuine. The exchange between two human beings is absolutely amazing. Is it the fact that your lovers in real life? Maybe, I don’t know. Was it the script that put the two of you in a domestic situation that was so hot? I don’t know either. One thing I do know is that the kissing, the show of affection the hand holding the smiles, the cute faces even the evil little knowing grins were a delight to watch. In my opinion Extra Firm is a must see for anyone that enjoys MM romance novels that would like to try watching MM movies! So you know, I enjoyed Sweat, but it’s not Extra Firm!
