A Musical Valentine

Here’s something very special for Valentine’s Day. When Dirk lived in New York several years ago, he shared a modest one-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side with a roommate, a dog, and a very large Steinway grand piano. Early one morning (at 5 am, I think; good thing the apartment was soundproofed!) he sat down at that piano to record this nocturne. I think it’s beautiful beyond description.

He wrote it for his mother.

Just another one of the countless reasons why I love him.

Strange how he wrote this around 5 a.m., because when I can’t sleep and I find myself up at 5 a.m., THIS is the kind of music I love to listen to.

Just one more reason why Dirk is a keeper…

Love the music, just love classical music, especially when someone close to you writes it and dedicates it to their mother. this just took my breath away, and slowed the beat of my heart down to a trickle to listen to it, and just float away with the beat.

This has no place on a .xxx website. I’m calling the Internet inquisition.
No one expects the Internet Inquisition…

IF YOU CAN WRITE MUSIC, YOU ARE CERTAINLY GIFTED. I TOOK PIANO LESSONS AT THE CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC BACK IN THE EARLY 1980’S IN CHICAGO. THERE IS A PIANO AT MY PARENTS HOME THAT ME AND TWO OF MY SIBLINGS PLAYED. MY FATHER PAST AWAY IN 2012 AND THAT PIANO IS STILL THERE TODAY.

Seriously if he put a CD together I would buy it. I listen to everything you post of his and I love his music. He is a very talented man and you are so lucky to have someone who fills your life with such beautiful music.

My nana was born on valentines day. Went to go visit her grave before midnight after work and left her a rose with my mum. Glad I stumbled on this before bed. Reminds me of her

Ever since I met him at MAL in Washington several years back I knew he was as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. This only confirms my idea. Thanks so much for a very appropriate share. My mom died in 2012. This means a lot

I’m in no way surprised, Mr. Caber. You have a gift. Thanks for including this at your blog, as I would otherwise not have remembered it.

  2. […] So here’s me saying it.  I’m a sucky blogger.  Here I am writing my first post here since sometime last autumn (and I’m not sure exactly when that was, as that post expressed some frustrations and at some point I decided it wasn’t the first post I wanted people to read when they arrived here, so I deleted it).  Meanwhile, my boyfriend manages to crank out a nearly daily blog entry, usually thoughtful and provocative though peppered with plenty of dirty pics, and even then manages to produce this awesome page for my blog of all my movies, complete with links to the movies and scenes, a task which would have taken me weeks.  By now I’d presume that most of you looking for news of me know to check out Jesse Jackman’s page, especially for photos of the two of us asleep together, news of our travels together or separately, or snippets of some of the music I write.
