A Musical Valentine
Here’s something very special for Valentine’s Day. When Dirk lived in New York several years ago, he shared a modest one-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side with a roommate, a dog, and a very large Steinway grand piano. Early one morning (at 5 am, I think; good thing the apartment was soundproofed!) he sat down at that piano to record this nocturne. I think it’s beautiful beyond description.
He wrote it for his mother.
Just another one of the countless reasons why I love him.
Strange how he wrote this around 5 a.m., because when I can’t sleep and I find myself up at 5 a.m., THIS is the kind of music I love to listen to.
Just one more reason why Dirk is a keeper…
So beautiful it made me weep.
Beautiful. Happy Valentines Day Fellas!!!!!!
Love the music, just love classical music, especially when someone close to you writes it and dedicates it to their mother. this just took my breath away, and slowed the beat of my heart down to a trickle to listen to it, and just float away with the beat.
Simply beautiful, you are VERY talented Dirk. Much love to you both xxxx
I loved it i had tears in my eyes listening to it it was truly BEAUTIFUL
This has no place on a .xxx website. I’m calling the Internet inquisition.
No one expects the Internet Inquisition…
IF YOU CAN WRITE MUSIC, YOU ARE CERTAINLY GIFTED. I TOOK PIANO LESSONS AT THE CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC BACK IN THE EARLY 1980’S IN CHICAGO. THERE IS A PIANO AT MY PARENTS HOME THAT ME AND TWO OF MY SIBLINGS PLAYED. MY FATHER PAST AWAY IN 2012 AND THAT PIANO IS STILL THERE TODAY.
Seriously if he put a CD together I would buy it. I listen to everything you post of his and I love his music. He is a very talented man and you are so lucky to have someone who fills your life with such beautiful music.
P.S Happy Valentines Day. 😉
Beautiful arrangement. Love the sound of classical piano. Could this man be any more perfect?! Happy Valentines Day to you both from Downunder 🙂
My nana was born on valentines day. Went to go visit her grave before midnight after work and left her a rose with my mum. Glad I stumbled on this before bed. Reminds me of her
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY Hope it was great <3 <3
Beautiful!! Def need to keep him, Jesse!! He is multi-talented and quite HOT!!
This is awesome. I can just imagine how passionate Derek is. Thanks for sharing Jesse. I admire both of you. How wonderful that you are joined together. Take care Jesse…like you too.
Ever since I met him at MAL in Washington several years back I knew he was as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. This only confirms my idea. Thanks so much for a very appropriate share. My mom died in 2012. This means a lot
I’m in no way surprised, Mr. Caber. You have a gift. Thanks for including this at your blog, as I would otherwise not have remembered it.
This is gorgeous… Any idea who the pianist is in this recording?
… I need the sheet music for this piece – would love to play it.
Dirk wrote and performed it. I’m not sure, but you might be able to find the sheet music on his American Composers Forum webpage (if so, it would be called Nocturne… if not, you should try sending him a message on his Facebook page).
Where can I purchase some of his piano works ?
He only has one piece of music for sale online — we did it as a test to see how easy the process would be to make it available on iTunes. You can find it by searching “Jack Parton nocturne” on your favorite online music store like Apple Music or Google Play (here’s the link for his Apple Music page, for example: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/jack-parton/844828358). It’s also available on streaming sites like Pandora and Spotify.
Also, you can listen to a lot of his music (piano and otherwise) on his SoundCloud page at http://soundcloud.com/dirkcaber.
Hope that helps and thanks for listening!!
Hi Jesse! Love you and Dirk so so much. I´m a half-time pianist and I really love this piece written by Dirk. I want to play it desperately but couldn´t find the sheet. Do you maybe know how and where can I get it? (Hope you can see this comment) Thank you so much!
Hi Rodrigo — you’re in luck, as I was able to track down a copy. Here you go! http://jessejackman.xxx/files/2020/04/Nocturne.pdf
Thank you so so much Jesse. I never thought that I could get your reply but I did!!! I love everything between the perfect you and the same perfect Dirk (or Jack anyway!) I´ve read like basically everthing that you guys wrote 7 or 8 years ago, which was and is so sweet and just makes me wanna cry. Wish all the best for you guys! (although I´m wondering if there´s anyway that I can get in touch or talk a little bit with Dirk!)
