The Bear Mais interview (English version)
The other day, the Brazilian magazine Bear Mais published an article called “Alegrias, Dramas, e Sucessos dos Atores Pornôs” (“The Joys, Dramas, and Successes of Porn Stars”) that features interviews with me, Ale Tedesco, Matteo Valentine, and Jeff Stronger. Here’s the English version of my interview; the full article translation (with all four interviews) is coming soon to the Bear Mais website. “Obrigado pela leitura!” (Thanks for reading!)
When did you begin your career in porn?
I started working in porn in the summer of 2011. I had never even thought about doing it, but then I met Hunter Marx and his partner Ethan Anders — both Titan models — over the summer and they were such good guys (and the sex was so good) that I decided it could be fun to try. When Titan
contacted me a month later to see if I wanted to film with them, I thought about it for a couple of weeks, decided it was worth trying, and agreed. Three weeks later I was in San Francisco filming my first scene for a film called Surveillance… and by complete coincidence, my scene partner was Hunter Marx! It was a lot of fun. after we’d finished filming, Titan offered me an exclusive contract, which I accepted. I’ve been having the time of my life ever since!
Did you have a problem when your family discovered your profession? Do you have a good relationship with them?
Last year, my mother found out that I make porn. She accidentally saw my bank account statement with a deposit from Titan Media, wondered what it was, and googled it… and I was on the front page of Titan’s website. She kept it to herself for several months before we finally talked about it, but when we finally did talk, she was great. She had been upset at first, but then she read my blog and saw my Facebook page and realized that working in porn had made me so happy. She not a huge fan of the idea, but she’s been incredibly supportive. (If you want to read the whole story of how she found out, check out my blog post at http://jessejackman.xxx/2012/10/04/she-knows.) I’m also happy to say that my family has expanded as a result of my porn work. Shortly after I started working with Titan, I met my partner Dirk Caber, a fellow actor who has worked with Titan, COLT, Kink.com and many other studios. We both
worked at the Titan booth at the Folsom Street Fair in 2011 and have been together ever since. We’ve even filmed two Titan scenes together! He’s a truly amazing man, and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with him. To read the whole story of how we met, check out http://jessejackman.xxx/category/my-porn-romance.
Many people wonder about what it’s like to be in porn. What do you think about this line of work?
I’m very passionate about making porn, as I am about most things in life. When you watch one of my scenes, everything you see is real; my reactions are genuine, the passion intense, and the connection sincere. When I connect with my scene partner, I lose myself in the experience, and simply focus on the pleasure and the intensity of the moment. If it looks like I’m really into the scene, it’s because I am. For me, making porn is a powerful and positive form of sexual self-expression. I use to be sort of reserved, but the films have really built my sexual confidence and encouraged me to open up and try new things. And Titan’s studio is a safe environment to try new things with established experts. I first tried watersports on the set of Surveillance, for example. Also, I never thought I’d like electro play, but when I was first introduced to it in the Titan Rough film Loud and Nasty, I actually really enjoyed it. I even bought a violet wand and have been using it at home.
Many people think that all porn stars are escorts. Is that true? What is the difference?
Very few porn actors work in the industry full-time. The average porn “career” lasts about two years, and most of us have other jobs. Some porn actors also work as escorts, but there are plenty of other occupations: I know corporate executives, health professionals, dancers, personal trainers, store managers, and even a meteorologist who also works in porn. The point is that it’s very difficult to get enough work to make a living exclusively as an porn actor. Escorting is a perfectly reasonable way to support oneself outside of the industry, but the important thing to keep in mind is that it’s not the only way. We’re not all escorts.
How do you get a hard-on when the director and production assistants are watching you?
I really get turned on by connection. When I work with a scene partner I like, and I’m genuinely attracted to them, it’s easy to get and stay excited about having sex with him… even if there are lots of people watching. And so far I’ve really liked everyone I’ve worked with. Titan’s stable of porn stars are HOT and have all been very easy to connect with, so staying hard is easy.
Is your relationship with the producers always friendly, or do uncomfortable situations occur?
I’ve only worked with Titan, of course, but everyone at the studio has been so professional and so respectful; they truly are a pleasure to work with. First and foremost, the guys want to make sure that the performers are comfortable. I’ve never been asked to do anything that I feel uncomfortable doing. And my interaction with the staff is great; they’re serious about making the best product they possibly can, but they also have a lot of fun doing it. Titan is like a big family… one which, as a Titan exclusive, I’m honored and proud to be a part of.
Bear Mais Magazine… my Brazilian debut!
Here it is… my first Brazilian interview! This article was just published in the online magazine Bear Mais. Don’t worry if you can’t read Portuguese; the interview will be published in English in the next few days (and, of course, I’ll post it here when it is). Big thanks to my friend Sergio for fixing Google’s translation of my original interview!

Sunday evening Q&A
I was recently interviewed by Tat2dgy (a.k.a. Richard, who snapped this pic of us at this year’s Folsom Street Fair) for his excellent blog Tat2dgy Vues the Industry. We talked about my personal life, my growing interest in exhibitionism… and my ultimate porn fantasy. With his permission, I’m reposting the interview in its entirety here. Be sure to check out Richard’s blog at tat2dvues.blogspot.com!
How — if at all — has being in the adult industry changed your views about sex?
- The entire experience has been incredibly liberating. Sex was never really talked about in my family when I was growing up, and coming out proved very challenging for me. Eventually I came to accept myself, and even be proud of my sexuality. Once I realized this, I became a lot more relaxed about sex and have found that I enjoy it more than ever. Working in the industry is just a natural extension of that for me; I’m becoming more comfortable with myself all the time.
How — if at all — has your experience in porn changed your view of yourself?
- I have a motto of sorts: “In Porno Veritas.” I’ve learned a lot about myself through my work in the industry. For example, I realized that I’m a far more confident person than I’ve ever given myself credit for, and with that confidence comes a level of pride I never thought I could attain. I don’t just make porn; I make the very best porn I possibly can, and I’m damn proud of that fact… which means that I can be proud of who I am, no matter what I choose to do.
Deciding to enter the industry was a difficult, but measured, choice on my part, because it pushed me considerably outside of my comfort zone. However, I’ve found over and over again that when I venture out of my comfort zone I’m rewarded immensely; as someone once said, “Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb; that’s where the fruit is.” (That quote has been attributed to Mark Twain, Will Rogers, Jimmy Carter, Mother Theresa, and any number of other people… but that doesn’t make it any less valid!)
What — if anything — had you fantasized about that you got to experience thanks to your experience in porn?
- I’d say it’s having sex in public. I’d always been a fairly private person when it came to my sex life. Performing in front of a small film crew for the first time was difficult, but was also an eye-opener. I had to keep reminding myself that these guys were professionals and have seen all this stuff before; that made it easier. As I grew more comfortable and the performance anxiety subsided, I started exploring exhibitionism outside of the studio. Last May, my boyfriend Dirk Caber and I did a live show at Steamworks in Chicago, and more recently I got a blow job on stage from both Dirk and Rowdy Worth in front of several thousand people at the Magnitude party in San Francisco. I loved it!
What — if anything — in the porn industry do you want to experience that you’ve not already done?
- I haven’t filmed a three-way (or more-than-three-way) scene yet, which is something I’d love to do. Also, I’d give my left nut (well… not really) to be in a sports-themed film, given my rather broad sports experience (I’ve played football, rugby, hockey, baseball, basketball, rugby… just to name a few).
Based on your interaction with fans, do people have any misconceptions about you? If so, what are they?
- Most people, oddly enough, assume I live in either San Francisco or LA, and live some sort of glamorous porn star lifestyle, whatever that is. Believe me, I appreciate the pretty awesome life I’m enjoying right now… not only do I get to fuck some of the hottest guys on the planet, I’ve met lots of amazing people all over the country. But when it comes down to it, I’m just your average guy. I own a home, have a steady job, great friends… it’s a good, stable life I live here. (In Boston, by the way.)
Another misconception is that, even though I might look the part, I hardly consider myself to be a “daddy” like most people think I am. I may pushing 40, but I’m still a young ‘un at heart!
Do you have a favorite type of scene partner — or a favorite scene partner — to work with?
- They’ve all been great — Titan’s paired me with some of the most amazingly hot, smart, sweet, sexy men I’ve ever met — but there’s only one real answer here: My boyfriend Dirk. He rocks my world, both on-screen and off.
What — if anything — would you shy away from doing onscreen?
- Some of the more fetish-oriented stuff would be difficult for me. I’d probably shy away from fisting, scat, sounding… that sort of thing. That said, Titan is a safe environment to try new things with established experts, so I’d be open to most anything else. I never thought I’d like electro play, for example, but when I was first introduced to it in the Titan Rough film Loud and Nasty, I actually really liked it. I even bought a violet wand and have been using it at home.
How — if at all — has your porn career been effected by your non-porn career/job (or how has your non-porn career/job been affected by porn)?
- The two are, in fact, quite complementary. My “day job” gives me the flexibility to fly out to San Francisco, film a couple of scenes, and come right home (usually on the red-eye) to resume my normal responsibilities. Titan, also, has been great at working around my schedule. I’ve only faced one significant challenge: Last year, someone sent an anonymous (and somewhat threatening) letter of complaint to my day job’s Customer Affairs department; the letter called for my termination on the grounds that I make porn — how salacious! — in my spare time. My company’s response, though, was amazing. You can read the whole story here: http://jessejackman.xxx/2012/10/15/adversity-advocacy-and-affirmation
What is one thing about you that your fans might be surprised by?
- I may look tough, but I’m a total teddy bear at heart… although I suppose anyone who reads my blog or follows me on Facebook can figure that out pretty quickly.
How — if at all — has your porn career affected your relationship?
- I might not even be in a relationship right now if it weren’t for porn… let alone the most incredible relationship of my life! I’ve written all about it here: http://jessejackman.xxx/category/my-porn-romance
Do you get recognized when you’re out in your home city?
- Occasionally… and probably more than I hear about. I’m not shy about telling people about my side job, so I’m pretty sure a lot of people are aware of it, especially in inherently social places like the gym. Boston can be a rather reserved city, though, so while I think some people might know me as “that porn guy,” they’d never actually say anything about it to me directly. There’s a lot more to me than just the fact that I make porn, but I think a lot of people don’t see that; all they see is the guy who has sex on screen. It’s a bit frustrating.
Where can your fans see your work?
- All my videos are available on my blog at www.JesseJackman.xxx… just look under the My Videos menu. There are links to all of my Titan films (with free extended previews), behind-the-scenes content from Titan, plus — I’m especially proud of these — the complete set of X-rated home movies that Dirk and I film together on a semi-regular basis. If you watch them, please find me either on Facebook (http://facebook.com/JesseJackman) or Twitter (@JesseJackmanXXX) and tell me what you think… and what you wanna see next!
Etiquette for the Uncouth: The DLNQNT Interview
Delinquent, indeed! While this interview originally dropped on DLNQNT.com over a week ago, I’ve been so caught up in IML madness that I’ve been unable to post it until now. Sorry about that! Anyway, back in May, the fine folks at DLNQNT contacted me and Dirk for an interview; they asked us the very same questions, which we answered independently. My responses are below; you can read my “raunchy pup’s” responses over on the DLNQNT site to see just how compatible we really are!
ETIQUETTE FOR THE UNCOUTH:
Falling in love with Jesse Jackman
Originally posted on May 22, 2012 at DLNQNT.com
To help us navigate the confusing world of love, lust, and what to wear, we’ve tapped a few of your favorite adult film stars for some… direction.
This week we caught up with Dirk Caber’s other half — who we heard so much about last week — Boston sweetheart Jesse Jackman. He’s made quite the dirty bird launch in the past year with and without the Mrs. It’s hard to say what’s more raunchy — their time onscreen or their schmoopie twitter messages.
DLNQNT: One could assume you get hit on a lot; what’s a gentle letdown for an unwanted advance? Jesse Jackman: Dirk taught me this one, actually. When I’m with him, I’ll quickly introduce him as my partner. Tone of voice means everything here; Dirk’s absolutely right when he says this can just as easily be used an invitation as well. When I’m flying solo — which happens a lot, as Dirk and I live in different cities — I’ll work his name into the conversation, which has a similar effect… and if the advance is in fact wanted, it’s a simple way of informing the other person that it’s not going anywhere beyond having a little fun.
Manscaping — how much is too much? And how do you get your partner to clean up his act in hard to reach places? JJ: The only situation in which I’ll condone manscaping is if birds are starting to nest in your chest hair. Then, perhaps, a light trim on the minimum setting is called for. Otherwise… manscaping is hairesy!
What’s your ultimate dating deal-breaker? JJ: Oh, that’s an easy one. The ultimate deal-breaker is an inability to communicate. If I find myself constantly trying to drive the conversation forward without any contribution from the other side, it’s probably not going to work.
Forget Mars and Venus; it’s been said that there are five languages of love regardless of sex and orientation — which is the most important? JJ: Continuing with the connection theme, I’d have to say quality time is the most important, although physical touch is a close second. I try to be very careful around the “acts of service” piece, though. If one’s not mindful, that could easily slip into a tit-for-tat scenario: “I did this for you. Now you owe me.” I’ve seen relationships fracture because of that, and I’m careful not to emulate that behavior in mine.
Through the courting process, how do you recognize a keeper from the background noise? JJ: It’s a feeling; fortunately I’ve come to recognize it. I feel a certain lightness in my chest and a nervous excitement when I look at the other person, and it sort of moves upward towards my neck and face. That sounds weird, I know, but it has always been a portent of a strong connection… and nine months into our relationship, I still feel that way every time I even think about Dirk.
What’s the best way to keep your boudoir fresh? JJ: This may sound silly, but a number of years ago an ex-boyfriend gave me a scented spray that he bought from Bleu Lavande, an enormous lavender farm in western Québec. A couple spritzes of that, and my room smells like a meadow… no matter what manner of debauchery had been stinking up the place beforehand.
Jesse Jackman can be found on Facebook, Twitter, and writes regularly on his blog (NSFW). You can also catch him in person in Chicago this weekend for IML.
ADULT premieres new Incubus photos
ADULT Magazine has graciously featured me in their inaugural issue! The free iPad-only online periodical contains gay porn photos and videos, interesting columns, funny “whore scopes,” quizzes, and a lot more.
There’s a really neat section called “A Few of My Favorite Flings” in which porn stars discuss their favorite scenes… and, with the iPad being such a great interactive medium, the article actually contains clips from those scenes embedded right into it! How awesome is that?
Their multi-page feature on me includes never-before-seen (even by me!) promo photos that were taken in Palm Springs for the upcoming release of Incubus 2. I’ve posted a sample below. For the rest of my feature and lots of other great adult-themed content, be sure to check out iReadADULT.com!
Naked Pictures of Your Dad
Now this is exciting! The amazing blog Naked Pictures Of Your Dad has named me #36 on their top 100 list of hottest men… of all time. How awesome is that??! These are the same guys who publish the kick-ass magazine Headmaster, so I really consider it quite an honor!
The NPOYD guys asked if they could interview me for their blog, and I happily agreed. I’m reposting the interview (with permission) below. Make sure you check out Naked Pictures Of Your Dad!
36. Jesse Jackman (1973 – )
One of the bigger surprises on the list is the high placing of porn star Jesse Jackman. Not because he’s not hot — anyone who’s seen his stellar multi-cumshot flip-fuck scene in Titan’s Command Performance can attest — but because he’s so new to the industry, having only started fucking on-camera last summer. I decided to ask Mr. Jackman a few questions about porn and about being a hotter Bostonian than Ted Williams, and he very graciously replied.
NPOYD: You filmed your first scene for Titan less than six months ago. Was shooting porn what you expected it to be?
Jackman: I really had no idea what to expect. My fantasies about working on a set were influenced (corrupted, perhaps) by what I had been told by various porn actors I’d spoken to over the years. I wanted to believe that the process would be rather fluid, but had heard that there was in fact a lot of stopping and starting, lots of delays to reposition lights and cameras, lots of waiting around, and so on. I wasn’t sure what to believe, so when I first walked into the Titan studios I was actually pretty open to whatever might happen, with very few expectations. As it turns out, there is a fair amount of waiting around… but the Titan guys are so easy-going and fun that there’s never a dull moment. Their chemistry is wonderful; it’s like working for a big family.
One thing that did surprise me, though… and I’ve heard surprises a lot of people… is that it’s actually rather difficult to, uh, “finish up.” The actors all seem to be going at each other very hard on set and yet somehow have this amazing endurance. I worried a lot about it before my first shoot: at that level of intensity, would I cum too soon? The reality is quite the opposite: the filming process is so exhausting and you’re concentrating so much on the task at hand (not blocking the lights, staying open to camera, focusing on technique, etc.) that it’s possible to drift away from the sheer pleasure of fucking and from connecting from your scene partner… and it’s that connection that gets me off. So it can be hard to get off. I’ve had to will myself to do it sometimes.
NPOYD: You live in Boston, which has a reputation for being an old-fashioned Puritan city, but nearly every porn star, stripper, or escort that I’ve ever met has come from that area. How hot do you find Boston, compared to other cities?
Jackman: I was born in Boston and love it here, so I’m a bit biased… but that said, I do find Bostonians to be rather reserved compared to people in other cities. I’ve been told by guys here that they were afraid to approach me because I look intimidating, or assumed that I would be unfriendly. I may be on the taller side and have a shaved head, but I laugh and smile a lot and consider myself to be fairly affable, so I have no idea where that comes from. I don’t experience that level of shyness in other cities; people are much more likely to approach me when I travel.
NPOYD: You wrote on your blog the other day about your relationship with Dirk Caber, another Titan man. Will you be shooting scenes together anytime soon?
Jackman: Titan has a series called the Rough line, which showcases more fetish-oriented activities (bondage, fisting, sounding, and the like). A lot of those fetishes are new to me, and Titan has made it clear that they won’t make me do anything I’m uncomfortable with. I’m comfortable with Dirk, though, and I told the Titan brass that if I were ever to do a Rough scene with anyone, I’d do it with him. There are some pretty strong indications that they’re going to take me up on that offer.
NPOYD: There’s an interview with you that I just watched that starts off with you taking a really long leak against a tree. Is watersports a thing for you? What else really gets you off?
Jackman: I’d never even tried watersports before working with Titan. Their films often include bonus footage that’s released as a DVD extra or special website featurette; in the case of my first movie, Surveillance, it was a watersports feature. No one told me about it beforehand; I guess they assumed I knew we’d be filming one. I don’t think they realized I’d never done watersports before, ever. At one point the director,
Paul Wilde, asked me how I was doing with my pee level and I said, “Fine, thanks. I just took a bathroom break.” He was, if you’ll pardon the expression, pissed. “Dammit! How can we do the watersports scene” – which was the first I’d heard of it – “if you just took a piss? Let’s break for lunch. Drink plenty of water.” I was nervous, but I figured what the hell… this whole porn thing is completely new and exciting, so what’s one more new experience? So, after lunch… and after drinking more water than I ever thought I could… I did it. I peed all over everything: up and down and across every square inch of Hunter Marx, all over the floor, all over the wall, all over myself… everywhere. [You can see video and promotional stills from the scene here.] Paul seemed really happy with my performance; it would appear I have a bit of a knack for it. I haven’t brought watersports into my personal sex life yet, but now that I’ve tried it I’d certainly be open to it, if and when the spirit moves.
Working with Titan is great in that sense for exploring new sexual avenues; it’s a safe, controlled environment where you can try out new things with knowledgeable people. As I mentioned earlier, I don’t have a lot of experience with the fetish stuff, but I’m definitely willing to learn. Call it “continuing professional development,” if you will.
NPOYD: You played rugby for a number of years. What is it about rugby specifically that you think gay guys are latching on to as opposed to other sports?
Jackman: Rugby’s unlike any sport I’ve ever played… and I’ve played lots of different sports. It’s the most visceral activity I think I’ve ever experienced (outside of a bedroom or dungeon, that is). That kind of sheer physicality is missing from most organized sports. I don’t think its popularity is a particularly gay phenomenon; all types of people who crave that sort of intensity in sports seem to gravitate towards rugby. I do think, however, that rugby doesn’t mesh with the (unfortunate) popular stereotype that gay men do not like contact sports; that’s why there’s sort of a fascination among the general public that such a thing as gay rugby exists. I love that. I love challenging people’s preconceptions.
NPOYD: As far as the other men on this hot list, which ones do you find the hottest?
Jackman: So many hot men to choose from! There are a couple of standouts for me, though. The first is Pierre Curie. Intelligence is one of the features I find most attractive in a human being, and that’s something monsieur Curie had in spades… I mean, he and his wife have a fucking unit of measurement named after them! (Nikola Tesla also scores points there.) Plus… what a beard!
Another is Justin Timberlake… and to think I once wrote him off as a bubbleheaded boy-bander. Ever since I saw his amazing performance in the movie Alpha Dog I’ve been a big fan. I also love that he’s not afraid to laugh at himself (Dick in a Box, anyone?), which I find hugely attractive.
And then there’s François Sagat. Ahhh, François. I used to (and still do) jerk off to his films all the time. He’s a living legend in the porn industry, and I’ve had the incredible fortune to work with him in François Sagat’s Incubus, but what I find really hot about him is his personality. He’s rather shy at first, but once he opens up he’s an amazingly sweet, thoughtful, creative person… with a hilarious goofy streak. He’s awesome.
NPOYD: What qualities in a man do you find especially hot?
Jackman: I mentioned Curie-esque intelligence earlier, and a Timberlakian sense of humor. Those are key qualities. Confidence is another. I’m really attracted to guys with huge hearts who are able to connect emotionally as well as physically; if a guy is a great kisser, it’s usually an indication of that ability. On a more physical level, I love a solid, muscular body with a nice hairy chest and a healthy amount of scruff.
I’ve found all of those qualities in Dirk, and I feel like the luckiest man in the world.
NPOYD: I started jerking off to Titan models as soon as I got internet access in the late nineties. What are your earliest porn memories? Is there any one porn star that got you into the industry?
Jackman: When I was a kid, my aunt lived with us; she was a workout fanatic and used to subscribe to Muscle and Fitness. I used to sneak into her room, steal her copy, and jerk off to the guys in it. I was maybe 12 years old at the time. I know it wasn’t exactly porn, but it was all I could get my hands on.
There is one guy in particular, Roman Wright, who got me into making porn. But first a little backstory: Over the 4th of July weekend in 2011 I met Hunter Marx, a Titan model, and his partner Ethan Anders in Saugatuck, Michigan. They were hot. We fucked around a lot had a ton of fun… so much so that I started idly wondering if what we did might be reproducible in front of a camera. A week later, while I was in Provincetown for Bear Week, I ran into the aforementioned Roman, who is an old friend. At the end of the week I gave him a ride back to Boston so he could fly home to San Francisco. I knew he’d done some work in the industry, so to make conversation during the drive I half-jokingly asked him if he thought I could work in porn (with no serious intent to ever do it, despite my curiosity). He said he thought I could, but that I shouldn’t. Roman knows me pretty well, and thought I wouldn’t deal well with the inevitable criticism that comes with public performance. (He was ultimately right: I try very hard not to read reviews of my scenes because I tend to take negative criticism rather personally. And I’m my own worst critic… I haven’t watched any of my scenes because I’m afraid that I’d only focus on everything I thought I did wrong!)
Roman flew home that afternoon. The next day, out of the blue I got a message on Facebook from a guy I’d never heard of named Patrick Finger:
Hi Jesse,
I handle casting for Titan Media. I’m standing here with Roman Wright and he’s telling me that you’d like to work with us. You’re a great looking guy. Are you interested?
Patrick
Oh, that Roman. Either something got lost in translation, or I was putting off a pretty strong vibe that, subconsciously, I really did want to work in the industry, or he figured he’d at least arrange for the opportunity and let me make up my own damn mind. Anyway, I told Patrick I’d think about it. After about two weeks of soul-searching I finally decided that if I didn’t at least try it, I would always wonder what it was like… so I filled out the model application form and emailed it in. I got a message back from Patrick less than three hours later saying that everything looked good and they would love to work with me. We spoke on the phone the next day, and within a couple of weeks I was out in San Francisco filming a scene – with Hunter Marx, the guy from Saugatuck, of all people! – for my first Titan film, Surveillance. [I eventually got to shoot a scene with Roman too, a flip scene in Command Performance.]
Six months and six scenes later, I’m still working with Titan and loving every minute of it! I’ve really gotten into writing about my experiences, too, and have been blogging about them almost every day. (The address of my blog is jessejackman.xxx, by the way. Sorry for the shameless plug, but I just love to tell people about my porn adventures and thought I’d mention the website in case anyone’s interested in reading about them!)
The PoundnStulla Interview
Porn blogger PoundnStulla just posted an interview with me on his excellent blog! Here it is in its entirety. Be sure to check him out at www.poundnstulla.com, or catch him on Twitter at @PornBloggerXXX.
PoundnStulla: Are you new to the gay porn industry?
Jesse Jackman: Yup, I’m still pretty new. I filmed my first scene in August of 2011 (with Hunter Marx for the Titan movie Surveillance), although it wasn’t released until January. I’ve appeared in two more Titan films since then (Command Performance and Incubus), with a couple more filmings coming up in February and hopefully more after that.
PS: You’ve worked with Titan. Who else have you worked with?
JJ: Titan’s the only one; after filming Surveillance they offered me an exclusive agreement which I happily accepted. I love working with them!
PS: Why did you decide to enter the industry?
JJ: You have to go back a few years for the answer to that one. When I was 23 years old (I’m 38 now) a friend of mine took a nude picture of me at Black’s Beach in San Diego. When he got the picture developed, he showed it to me and said, “Dude! You could totally do porn!” I said “Nahhhh, you’re crazy!” … but the seed had been planted. I think we’ve all at some point wondered what it would be like to work in the industry. I love new experiences and challenges, and am a naturally curious individual, so when Titan contacted me 15 (!) years later, how could I refuse?
PS: In your eyes, what makes a good porn star?
JJ: Intensity. Passion. A true enjoyment of sex, and the ability to really connect with your scene partner.
PS: How do you know as a porn star when you have arrived… meaning you are popular now?
JJ: When somebody starts selling a “Jesse Jackman Realistic Dildo,” I’ll know I’ve made it.
PS: What would people be surprised to know about you?
JJ: That I’m a huge goofy teddy bear dork. All too often, people tell me I look scary or unapproachable or that they assumed I’d be unfriendly, when in fact the exact opposite is true. I love talking to people and laughing and joking and giving big bear hugs. Not what you expected, eh?
PS: Finish this sentence: “If I weren’t in porn…”
JJ: … I’d be the same person, just not in porn.
PS: How often do you work out?
JJ: Every day… and that includes at least an hour of lifting and half an hour of cardio. Skipping even one day is a rare exception for me; I’m a creature of habit.
PS: Who in the gay porn industry would you like to work with?
JJ: There’s one person in particular whom I’ve really been hoping to work with… and in fact, just the other day I learned from Titan that I’ve been paired with him for one of my February projects! I’m not allowed to mention who it is yet, but let’s just say I’m VERY excited. Besides him, there are a few people I’ve really connected with online or at events with whom I’d love to shoot a scene; among them are Jessy Ares, Marco Wilson, Trenton Ducati, and François Sagat. (Actually, I have a brief uncredited appearance with François in “Incubus” as his evil twin… but I’d love the chance to do a proper scene with him.) And I think Shay Michaels is crazy hot. (Can you tell I’m acting like a kid in a candy store here?)
I’ve already had the good fortune of working with Hunter Marx, Roman Wright, and Christopher Daniels, all of whom were amazing.
PS: PoundnStulla likes to engage the topic of barebacking in complete neutrality by encouraging everyone to share their point of view on this touchy subject. How do you feel about it?
JJ: I’m going to take a very diplomatic approach here and say that I believe the members of a relationship – be it monogamous or monogamish or open – should define their own rules, as long as those rules work for all involved. Some relationships have certain conditions where barebacking is acceptable. As long as everyone’s on board and understand the risks involved, I don’t have a problem with it… and that goes for all sexual practices, not just barebacking.
That said, one of the reasons I decided to work with Titan is their policy of not producing bareback films, or hiring performers who have previously barebacked on camera. While I believe that everyone has a right to keep their personal sexual practices private, porn performers should remember that people will be watching and, perhaps, emulating their public behavior. Therefore, when making an appearance, be it on film or during a live show, I believe that a porn actor has a responsibility to set a safe example. What goes on in the privacy of his own bedroom/shower/kitchen/dungeon/knitting room, however, is nobody’s business but his own.
